Is ProtectMyFlight insurance?

ProtectMyFlight is not insurance — it is prepaid legal representation. You pay a fixed fee in advance so that a legal team will pursue the airline for compensation on your behalf if your flight is disrupted. There is no insurer, no policy and no indemnity; what you buy is the legal work, arranged before you travel.

What happens if my flight is cancelled?

If a covered flight is cancelled, you report it through our online form and a legal team pursues the airline for compensation of up to €600 per passenger. You do not contact the airline, complete claim forms or attend anything. Cancellation claims usually resolve within three to twelve months, and the full amount recovered is paid to you.

Can I get compensation for a missed connection?

A missed connection is covered when the flights were booked on a single reservation and the delay was the airline's responsibility. The legal team assesses the booking and pursues compensation of up to €600 per passenger where the rules allow it. Connections booked separately on different tickets are usually outside the airline's liability.

Do I need to enter my flight details when I buy?

No flight details are needed at purchase. Cover attaches to you, not to a specific booking, so you provide the flight only if something actually goes wrong. This is why protection takes under 60 seconds and can be bought right up until departure.

When does my cover start?

Accepted Answer

Cover starts at the exact moment your payment is confirmed, and that timestamp is printed on your certificate of cover. Only disruptions arising after that moment are covered, so a flight already delayed or cancelled before you paid cannot be claimed for. Buy before you travel, ideally when you book.

How much of the compensation do I keep?

Accepted Answer

You keep 100% of the compensation — no commission, no success fee and no deduction of any kind. The only money you ever pay is the plan price of €7.90, €14.90 or €59.90, paid before the flight. On a €600 award you receive €600.

How long does a claim take?

Accepted Answer

A claim typically takes three to twelve months to resolve. Straightforward cases where the airline accepts liability settle at the faster end; cases that need escalation or court proceedings take longer. We will not promise an instant payout, because airlines do not work that way.

Who does the Family / Couple plan cover?

Accepted Answer

The Family / Couple plan covers everyone living at one household address who travels together on the covered flight. That is why the postal address is collected at checkout: the household is how the plan's coverage is defined. Travellers from a different address need their own plan.

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

You can request a refund by emailing us, and the conditions are set out in full on the refunds page. Because cover begins the moment payment is confirmed, refund rights depend on whether cover has already been relied upon. If a claims partner declines a customer we have already charged, we refund that purchase.

Which flights are eligible?

Accepted Answer

Flights departing from an EU or UK airport, and flights arriving in the EU or UK on an EU or UK carrier, are eligible, because that is the scope of the passenger-rights rules the claims rest on. Other routes can still be assessed, but compensation is far less likely. Your plan covers you regardless of the airline you book.
